2017-Future
This playlist features songs from artist that I discovered in 2017 and am highly anticipating what they can produce in 2018
Continue for some highlighted Artist
Oliver Tree
Bay area based until 2017 Oliver Tree has been producing music under the moniker Tree since 2012 but only recently moved to L.A and created the Alerternate ego “Turbo” and started releasing music under the Name Oliver Tree in 2017 expect big things from this talented singer, songwriter, and producer in 2018.
Below are a couple of older Tree Tracks
HER’S
HER’S a talented group from over the pond released their first full length project in 2017 “Song of Her’s” and created some sounds that we forgot we couldn’t live without..
Puzzle
Puzzle A.K.A Fletcher Shears is one half of The Garden. Born and raised in the L.A Punk music scene Fletcher uses this side project as an opportunity to experiment with a synth-pop sound. At the rate he has been producing music we can expect a few projects in 2018.
Few more older Puzzle and a song from The Garden… Oh btw they are strange
VADA VADA!!
Rex Orange County
An young artist from England on this list, Rex (Alex O’Connor) released a full length album this year, Apricot Princess, and while it didn’t live up to my expectation set by his first project, Bcos U Will Never B Free, a single he released this year “Loving is Easy” earned him a spot on the list.
YEEK
Sebastian Carandang stage name YEEK came out with a self titled album Sebastian in 2017, the album looks to blends together Rock, Rap and Pop to create something with a lot of promise. The lead Track Shake is in contention for my favorite song of the year, its switch in the 2nd half of the song was a great way to set the mood for the rest of the track list. Though this project has some misses on it, I’m very excited to see what we get in 2018.
Wallows
I don’t know much about this Punk Trio of artist from L.A, they have released 4 singles all in 2017, the first 2 were able to amass them a solid following. Hopefully in 2018 we are able to get a full EP from this group and really get a chance to hear a signature sound from them.
CUCO
Another L.A Based artist this time with a much different sound than the previous . CUCO has release two full albums since 2016 and is a fresh face in the flooded R&B landscape. The Flashes that we have seen have us waiting anxiously for something in 2018.
Mk.Gee
Another Artist on this list with only singles to his name at this point Mk.Gee (Mc-gee) is the artist I am most looking forward to a full project from in 2018. The single Unaware is enough for me to know this guy has the talent to make something great.
Gus Dapperton
Gus Blessed us with his 4 track LP “Yellow and Such” in 2017 and blasted onto my radar and with another new song that released in December I think it’s safe to assume Gus will keep providing for us.
Molly Burch
Filling the Void of Angel Olsen from last you get Molly Burch who release her first album in 2017.
2018.
